Cabane de Moiry

After the huge effort to get up to Cabane du Moiry, it is an experience being there.

It is a very nice mountain hut with windows overlooking the glacier.

We met people from England, Scotland, Sweden as well as a group that had lived in Minnesota at one point. It’s always fun asking people about their favorite thru-hikes. We got some good tips on the West Highland Way hike in Scotland from a woman from Glasgow. We are considering doing part of that hike a year from now when we visit Scotland.

There is a really nice sitting area that overlooks the glacier.

It is hut living which means you are dorm rooms with limited bathrooms - but that said, it is a very modern hut. Many people arrange their hikes so they only stay in huts. I think we all agreed that while it is fun to experience several different huts, we always look forward to our stays in the hotels, too!
